“ We ate dinner here for the first time this past weekend. The clean cedar smell when you walk in is so refreshing. It is simple and spacious. Not overcrowded. I would definitely make reservations. There were so many Sake choices and they bring a tray with all different sake cups and tell you to pick your vessel. The menu is simple and we had never had any of the items but the waiter was very helpful and we enjoyed the new experience of food. Very fresh and delicately prepared. If you are wanting Sushi andor hibachi style restaurant food this is not the place. It was a wonderful experience and very relaxing. ”

“ Best Japanese food Ive had in a very long time! This little restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Weve been traveling down Highway one. The sightseeing has been great but the food was Soso until now. My wife and I really enjoyed the halibut and trout Sushimi. The miso soup was really tasty! We had several things on the menu but honestly the star of the show was the rice!!!! I dont know what they did but that is the best rice Ive ever had! We will come back again and I think you should too! ”

“ Gorgeous space, wonderful service and excellent food. I dined here multiple times while staying in Point Arena, and it was truly an exceptional experience. The space is warm and inviting, and the live edge wood bar and tables are gorgeous. You can make a reservation for the dining room, but they keep the bar available for walkins. The service was attentive and efficient, especially from coowner Elyse, whose passion and knowledge made the experience. The beer and sake menu is impressive and wellcurated, I enjoyed all of the selections recommended to me. They also have several local wines on the menu for those that prefer it. The menu rotates seasonally based on availability from local farms and purveyors, and everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. All the dishes are shareable small plates, and the portions are perfect if dining alone or for ordering to share with a group. My favorites were the addictive cabbage it really was! and the karaage fried chicken its not to be missed!. If youre in the area, Gama is a must try! ”

“ I will say up front, this is definitely not the choice for those looking for a cheap, quick meal during their drive along the coast. That being said however, every dollar that I spent was absolutely worth it for the quality and variety that Gama has to offer. The environment is super clean and has the appeal of a fine dining establishment, while also somehow fitting a cozier, friendly bar setting that izakaya is known for. The menu is highly seasonal, so everything you see on Google may or may not be available during a given time, but the couple that runs the place does so to assure the local, fresh caught food is truly topoftheline. The staff is incredibly friendly, and definitely helped walk my partner and I through some of the more complex items on the menu, and also gave excellent advice for sake pairings. All in all, for those looking for a luxurious meal with highquality drinks, I could not recommend Gama more highly and we certainly hope to dine there again in the future. ”

“ This was such a cool find on our CA1 trip up to Mendocino! This izakaya has a rotating menu, so everytime you go itll be different items available. Make sure you call to get a reservation to go and make it part of your itinerary. Ill definitely be going again when I pass through Point Arena. The chicken karaage and wagyu skewers were really good. I really enjoyed all the vegetarian items as well! Really good balance of flavors. ”

“ We enjoyed a truly memorable meal here in celebration of my 40th birthday. Recommend by a friend we showed up last minute on a friday night having made no reservation. They welcomed us without hesitation. The menu is a beautiful reflection of spring flavors. The Dungeness crab chawanmushi was my favorite, so delicate and full of flavor, absolutely perfect. The Tokyo turpis were so good we placed a second order half way through our meal. A great list of sake as well as great beers, the red rice ale was a perfect choice. When they found out it was my birthday they gave me a little signed birthday card at the end of our meal, so kind. We will absolutely be back, our new favorite place to eat in the area. Well worth the drive! ”
